On July 14th, I finally received the check from insurance to send to the mortgage company. I had the bill to pay the tree company and since it had been almost two months, it needed to get done. So I called the mortgage company to see where the pack-it of information was so I could send in the check. I had called for one July 7th and then the next week called to find out where it was at. They said one was never sent out but they would get one sent out that day. I also asked how I were to go about getting the funds to pay the tree guy. I was told to just write a statement asking for the release of funds to pay the bill and they would send it off. So I sent off the letter and called the tree guy to tell him that they will be sending off the check and that I should have it by the end of the next week (Aug. 1st).
The check hadn't showed, so on my way to Omaha on the 12th with a friend, I called to check to see where the money was to pay the tree guy. The guy proceeded to tell me that I needed to fill out paperwork and get a W9, insurance form, and a lien release notarized sent in first. What?? Why wasn't I already told this? So he faxed the papers to school for me and I would pick them up when I went through Grand Island. I then called the tree guy to tell him I needed some forms filled out by him first and then they would send me the check. Thank goodness he was very understanding and worked with us.
So the next day I was looking over the paperwork and I didn't quite understand what I needed to do so I called them again. I am now talking to person #205 and they inform me that I don't need to fill out the paperwork and I was getting my first draw of money and should be sent out and I should have it by Friday. Let's call this amount "A". I was to cash the check and then pay some to the tree guy and some to the contractor. I called the contractor and told him and asked if that would be okay. He said they needed some more money especially since some was going to the other people. I called the mortgage company back to see if I can have more money released and the guy put me on hold to talk to the manager. When he came back he said that they were able to up the amount of the first check to amount "B" and I should still get the check by Friday since it hadn't been printed yet that day. Finally I was excited that things are moving in the right direction and since I was going back to work I wouldn't have much to worry about until I needed the next portion of money.
Friday comes and Jon calls to tell me that the check came and I told him to open it up as I was driving home from Grand Island. Well the check was in amount "A" instead of amount "B" and it was already too late to call them back since they close at 4 pm central time. So now I have to call them back on Monday to see if they will send the additional funds so we can get started putting the house back together. Unfortunately I will have to probably call them everyday to make sure things are going on that are suppose to be. So I'm off to program their number in my phone and who would ever think that they would have their mortgage loan account number memorized!!
