Kinleigh's First Birthday

Well, we survived the first birthday and a successful one at that. Kinleigh was a big help as she kept me entertained while I was frosting cakes and cupcakes in the early morning hours. She has been staying up way to late at night lately and sleeping in to late as well. Definitely something we need to change before I go back to work.

Here is one cake. Box cake mix but made the frosting homemade! It was yummy, easy and will definitely make it from now on. This is actually decorated like the flower on her dress for her party. I should up a picture, but will have to take one first :) We also had some cupcakes too.

Kinleigh was very tired at this point but we got her in her high chair for her cake smash. We sang happy birthday while she was crying.

But one we gave her the cake things were much better :) Here she is going in for a taste! Here cake is pink with a big #1 on it.

So Yummy!

She was a very neat eater and didn't really make a big mess, no bath when she was done, just wiped up and with a burst of energy off to play with her toys.

Of course that was short lived and she was down and out for a good 2 hour nap :)

She received some great toys and we will definitely be busy the rest of the summer playing with them. Her favorite while opening the gifts would have to be the target gift card that her Uncle Adam gave her. We opened up his card and his gift and for some she wanted his envelop from the card. When I picked it back up, I notice there was something in it which was the gift card. She wouldn't let me take it away. We are definitely in trouble now if she can sniff out plastic and is already excited about receiving them!

Here is Kinleigh's 12 month/1 year old photo with the bear.

I will continue to take the pictures of her with the bear, they just won't be every month from here on out. Probably 18 months, 2 years, 3 years, high school graduation......wedding.

Okay, maybe not the wedding but definitely the High School Graduation.

I have heard of time capsules before but got the idea when I was looking at first birthday ideas on the internet. I also had a paper due for a class that I just didn't want to do and kept finding other things to occupy my time. I had an idea of what I wanted to do, so Kinleigh and I headed up to Hobby Lobby and cruised through every aisle! Picking stuff up and then taking it back but found what I need. I also pick up some new decor to add to her room soon.

I have asked family and really anyone who wants to be added in can bring a letter or object to put inside that she will be able to open when she is 18 years old or her high school graduation. Her father and I will be adding letters through out the years and especially on her birthday every year.

If interested in putting something in her time capsule, just send it addressed to "Kineigh's time Capsule and we will add it to the bunch.

One year survived and it sure was a great one, Happy Birthday Kinleigh!
Love,
Mommy and Daddy

P.S. In honor of Kinleigh's Birthday, her Uncle Adam created and hide a geocache in Kearney called "One Happy Ryno". If you are interested in searching this out or for more information and an explanation about how he came up with the name, click here.
