Kinleigh's Arrival!!

Well, Kinleigh Ryne Rood made her arrival at 1:09 pm on July 24 and it was such a great experience. Jon and I were to check-in to the hospital at 11:00 am and were given our room, 3255. It was probably 11:30 when we were in our room starting to get prepped for the surgery. It was about 12:45 pm when they walked us back to the surgery room and I went in while Jon waited outside to be called in. First thing is the spinal, kind of burned going in, and then they layed me back and covered me in warm blankets, it was freezing in there. Jon was allowed to come in at 1:00 pm and then my doctor said she was going to pinch me and if I felt a sharp pain to let her know, I felt nothing. Surgery begins. At 1:09 pm Kinleigh was born and let her father and I know her lungs were working well. They quickly got her wrapped up so she wouldn't lose her body temperature and brought her over for us to hold and see her. Then Jon was able to take her to the nursery where they would do her first bath and everything. The grandparents and my brother Jonathan were able to go into the room too during this time. Although no one was able to hold her until mommy was able to. My surgery was finished at 1:41 pm and they were pushing me out to my room at 1:46 pm. I believe that they brought Kinleigh back to me around 2:00 pm.

Everything about the surgery went better than I could have hoped for. I was extremely nervous for the surgery and the pain that would follow. Everyone says that the first time you get out of bed to walk is horrible, trying to breast-feed is horrible. I have found that that things aren't as bad as I had imagined and have been getting around fairly well.

Kinleigh was 8 lbs and 0 oz. at birth, 20.5 inches long, and head circumference was 14 cm. She scored a 9 at the 1 minute Abgar and a 10 at the 5 minute one. She definitely was perfect and way more than either of us expected.
